About Jennifer Lamont Leo
With a passion for all things historical, award-winning author Jennifer Lamont Leo captures readers’ hearts through stories set in times gone by. Her seventh novel and first historical cozy mystery, Murder on a High Note, marks an exciting new chapter in her writing journey while staying true to her love of bygone eras.
Jennifer’s work spans the dramatic period of American history from 1880 to 1945, bringing to life the cultural richness and societal challenges of World War I, the Roaring Twenties, Prohibition, the Great Depression, and World War II. Her acclaimed Corrigan Sisters series—You’re the Cream in My Coffee, Ain’t Misbehavin’, and Wrap Your Troubles in Dreams—transports readers to the vibrant streets of 1920s Chicago and the glittering world of 1930s Hollywood. The Windy City Hearts series, including Moondrop Miracle, The Rose Keeper, and Love’s Grand Sweet Song, further explores Chicago’s complex history through compelling characters and meticulously researched settings.
Jennifer’s talent for historical storytelling earned her a Carol Award from American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW) for her debut novel, You’re the Cream in My Coffee. Her work also appears in the novella collections The Highlanders and Lumberjacks and Ladies, where she explores the rugged beauty and frontier spirit of early Idaho.
Music flows through Jennifer’s life and work. As a pianist and choral singer (and long-ago violin student), she weaves her musical background into many of her stories, most notably in her Music Shop Mysteries series. This personal connection adds authenticity and emotional depth to her characters’ experiences.
Jennifer’s approach to historical fiction is grounded in thorough research. She reads widely and deeply, visits museums and libraries, and travels to story locations whenever possible. Her volunteer work with the Bonner County Historical Society in Idaho further enriches her understanding of local history and heritage.
An Illinois native, Jennifer now writes from the mountains of northern Idaho, where she shares her home with her husband, two cats, and abundant wildlife. The forest-covered mountain setting provides the time, space, and quiet that fuels her creativity, while the vibrant literary communities of nearby Sandpoint, Coeur d’Alene, and Spokane, Washington, offer connection and inspiration.
Jennifer is an active member of the Historical Novel Society, American Christian Fiction Writers, and the Women’s Fiction Writers Association. She has been involved with the Idaho Writers League and continues to meet with her long-standing critique group in Sandpoint.
